THE SOUL OF TANGO
Lydia Panart

This exhibit is my tribute to Astor Piazzolla, an homage to the powerful creativity and expressive richness that sparks when past meets present, and roots connect with the future.

I’ve woven my own history, my memories, and Piazzolla’s music into a visual tapestry that invites reflection on immigration, displacement, finding a home in a new land, and the fusion of identities to create something completely new.

My paintings capture the light, the scents, the very pulse of Buenos Aires’ streets—the echo of cobblestones beneath my feet. They embody the city’s movement, its vitality, its soul: that signature mix of melancholy and passion that surrounds you.

My art is an act of liberation, a journey of shedding layers. Just as Piazzolla broke with tradition, took risks, and dared to be free with his music, I use this work to explore my own voice, my own truth.

There’s a deep root anchoring all of this: my ancestors. My work is an invitation for you, too, to honour your own roots, your voice, your freedom, and your goodbyes. And in this invitation to live your present, to celebrate your loves.
